Some words from the community.

  • If it was any fresher it would still be growing...

My husband said, “You made an excellent choice going with the vegetable basket weekly from our local garden.” I looked for a vegetable delivery service in January/February 2021. I was unable to find one that delivered in my area.

Imagine my surprise when Robbie [Frazier, RF outreach coordinator] approached me regarding this service. I was so excited, I signed up immediately. We are so pleased with the quality of the vegetables. If it was any fresher it would still be growing in the ground.

The added bonuses such as fresh squeezed lemonade, fresh baked goods, and eggs are an extra caveat. We love the vegetables we receive each week and oftentimes they find themselves cooked for dinner that same evening. Continue to serve our community with the freshness of locally grown vegetables, fruit and other local goods. Thank you, we are proud of what you are doing for our community.

  • I get to help other formerly incarcerated people

I get to work with the community. I get to address the food desert. I get to hire the formerly incarcerated. I get to hire people in the community. I get to meet new people, varieties, rainbows, what have you.

And I also get to work with seniors and be able to just provide and give back to the community. Not only in south Dallas but DFW as a whole.

  • Fresh as a farmers market!

I really enjoyed the eggs, the fun different treats we got, and the homemade relishes! Also loved having really fresh lettuces as those are something I would otherwise only find at a farmers market.

“What Restorative Farms is doing is radically unique. It is a ground up, economical and sustainable approach that could, if successful, be scaled and applied all over the country.”

— Dr. Anne Palmer, Food Communities and Public Health Program Director at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future

“Restorative Farms has given me the opportunity to hone my growing knowledge, help my education and get my own business model for which I’m very thankful.”

Frank Caceres, Restorative Farms Apprentice

“Restorative Farms is creating a network of small farms and food producers so they can better compete in the complex market dominated by very large players, through improving their access to inputs, information and markets at the most favorable terms possible.”

Dr. Eva Chasky, Director of the SMU Hunt Institute for Engineering & Humanity

  • Fresh Food + Jobs = Empowerment

We farm because growing food for our community makes sense. We farm out of care. We farm out of love – for the land and for the people. We farm out of hope for the future.

    – Charles Spencer, Associate Farmer with Restorative Farms & South Dallas native
